Gwadar Port to be linked with Pakistan Railway:

Dated:  01-June 2007 - LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed is expected to give his final approval Friday of the project connecting the Gwadar Port with the Pakistan Railways main network.

Warning over bogus Gwadar schemes:
Dated 31-May 2007 ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday warned the general public against making investments in 18 private housing schemes which have been declared ‘fake’ by the Gwadar Development Authority.

Balochistan safe for foreign investment:
Dated: 06th March07 Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that foreign investors are making huge investment in the province and the government is providing them with all possible security.

Gwadar deep seaport to generate two million jobs:

Gwadar Deep Seaport, which will become operational in March, is likely to generate around two million new jobs in next five to eight years. This was stated by Secretary Planning & Development Balochistan.....

HBFC to finance low-cost housing project in Gwadar:
Dated: 06th March07 The House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) is to finance 1,000 low cost housing units in Gwadar, which will be allotted to the displaced persons, local fishermen as well as to those who sold their lands and abode at a throwaway price to the investors and speculators.

The HBFC has already acquired 63 acres of land from the District Nazim off Sur Bandar, Gwadar. The Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) and the corporation will jointly supervise the project along with the local government.

In order to give the project a proper shape and design the HBFC has acquired the services of Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP), which will look after the development work and also give technical advice to the corporation.

These housing units will be of 120 and 240 sq. yards and strict criteria has been evolved to safeguard the interest of locals and genuine residents of the area. The project will be carried out on no profit-no-loss basis and the HBFC will bear 70 per cent of the project cost as Joan component and 30 per cent in the shape of equity from the buyers. The repayment period has been fixed between 24 to 30 months.

Warehouses Panned in Gwadar:
Dated: 06th March07 Quetta:The Balochistan government has allotted land for the construction of warehouses in Gwadar and directed the authorities concerned to complete construction work along with all required facilities before making Gwadar port operational.
This was disclosed at a meeting held in Gwadar on 23 January which was presided over by chief Minister Jam Yousuf to review the on-going development projects in Gwadar. Chief secretary K.B Find and other officials also attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that plots were allotted in the Gwadar Industrial Zone for construction of warehouses to facilities importers and exporter.
The Director-General of the Gwadar Development Authority, Ahmed Bakhsh Lahri, informed the meeting that the federal government has provided Rs2.217 Billion during last three years for the development of Gwadar .
The said that work on 14kg meter each roads of the Jinnah Avenue, the marine Drive has been completed while work on Broadway was in progress and construction of the east and the west bay express ways has already been launched. He informed the meeting that some changes were made in the Gwadar Master Plan in view of Public interest and the GDA would get approval of these changes soon from the Board of Governors.
The meeting was told that concerned departments have accelerated pace of work on projects approved by the federal and provincial governments of the new port city of Gwadar.

Electricity from Iran for Gwadar:

LAHORE, Feb 7: The Water and Power Development Authority on Wednesday signed an agreement with an Iranian company for purchase of 100mw of electricity for Gwadar.
Anwar Khalid, member (power), Wapda, and Mohammad Shabbir Chaudhry, chief executive officer of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC),and Mohseni Kabir of Messrs TAVANIR signed the agreement on behalf of the Wapda-NTDC and the Iranian company, respectively.

The import of power will be through a 170km 220kv double circuit transmission line between the Polan sub-station in Iran and the Gwadar sub-station. Pakistan will build 100km of the transmission line and Iran the remaining 70km. The project will cost $86 million, $26 million of which will be borne by Messrs TAVANIR and the NTDC will bear the rest $60 million cost.
